The Incubator event by Black and Yellow gallery is done.
I attended the reception for their exhibition #GIRLONGIRL on Friday night and the space filled up nicely through the evening. I marvelled at the many emerging women artists in our region and the variety of perspectives that can come from those of the same gender, in the same place, at the same time. We are not the same. But we can come together in our diversity and speak of books and making and politics and art.
The event was held over a week long period with talks from inspiring women in the city, craft sessions, gallery walks, a reading space and an art exhibition. The exhibition spanned drawing, painting, performance, textile work and sculpture. A big thank you to Allson Mander-Wionzek for bringing us all together and for letting me borrow these pictures for the blog.
