Happy New Year Everybody!
I want to let you know about a course I will be teaching here in Victoria at Vancouver Island School of Art.
The class is titled Fabric Collage: Material and Meaning and it begins Tuesday January 13th. It runs for 12 weeks every Tuesday evening from 6pm to 9 pm.
The course will provide an introduction to the use of collage in contemporary art using craft materials. We will be looking at surface, shape and line as basic constructs for creating an image. We will consider the meaning behind material choices and the story that can be created through the use of common household and fashion textiles. There will also be time for the consideration of the sculptural properties of cloth and how collage can be built upon to include sculpture and installation.
In addition to this, I will be teaching two, single day workshops in early spring, also at VISA.
Please see the Vancouver School of Art website if you are interested in joining us!
